This is the most frustrating feature of all deck building tools. Typing the card’s name will automatically select the most recent printing. Since we are in the fire design fancy wibbly wobbly flashy era, it will so often be a showcase or special guest.
Those cards are often unreadable and break the philosophy of what a normal, canonical card should look like. Entering “lightning bolt” automaticaly adds the card “Thrum of the Vestige” to your deck, which is utter nonsense. When you go to change it, the first conventional printing of Lightning Bolt shows as the 17th option.
I just want my deck to look like an actual deck of magic card, not some glitters from the bubble gum double rainbow theme park kids show. Please.
Plus this doesn’t seem so bad to code in python, so I don’t see an issue.

You can add prefer:default to your Default Scryfall syntax in your user settings to accomplish this. You can also disable flavor names in your user settings as well.
